Behaviour Consultations

Many issues require a more in depth assessment and approach to resolving them. Our behaviour consultation packages are suitable for behaviour problems such as aggression, reactivity, resource guarding, compulsive behaviour, and anxiety based issues.

Prior to the consultation you will be asked to complete a questionnaire. This will allow me to understand the problem behaviour and will give me an idea of your pet's history. Questionnaires can be completed over the phone if preferred.

You will need to obtain a referral from your vet before a behaviour consultation can take place. Many behaviour problems have a medical cause or are exacerbated by medical issues, and underlying pain in particular can really impact upon behaviour. As such, it is important we rule out any underlying medical problems before beginning behaviour modification. In some cases, prescription medication may be required to improve your pet's quality of life and to make behaviour modification more effective, and it is imperative we are able to liaise closely with your vet if this is the case.

Once I have received your questionnaire and vet referral we can arrange a convenient time for the behaviour consultation. Consultations will usually take place in your home and usually last around 2 hours. During this time I will assess your pet and discuss the underlying cause of the behaviour. We will discuss our treatment approach and the level of support you will need and put into place any necessary management.

Following the behaviour consultation you will receive a typed assessment of your pet's behaviour and a detailed behaviour modification plan outlining our treatment approach.

It is important that both you and your pet are given the specialist support you need whilst working to modify behaviour, and therefore your consultation package will also include 4 weekly online check ups (delivered via Zoom) , and an in-person follow up visit undertaken after around 6 weeks to assess your pet's progress in detail and to make any necessary adjustments to their behaviour modification plan.

Price: £250 - To include initial in-person behaviour assessment, written report and behaviour modification plan, 4 weekly online checkups, and an in-person follow up session.

Ongoing visits to assist with implementing the behaviour modification plan can be booked at a rate of £50 per hour.
